In this assignment we used a photo of ourselves, and we used it in photoshop to change the colors, and crop it. We learned how to use photoshop in more ways than we already knew. Original Photo I learned about more tools that I can use in photoshop. First we learned how to crop an image and turn it black and white. Then we had to learn how to use the rulers to cut the image into fourths, we duplicated the image and put them in each fourth of the image. Finally, we learned how to change the hue and saturation in each picture, which changed the color.

In these images I was trying to demonstrate motion blur by changing the shutter speeds. In the first picture with a shutter speed of 1/50 you can see the blur movement, compared to the fourth picture with a shutter speed of 1/1250 where you can see stop movement. In these pictures I was trying to demonstrate depth-of-field by changing the camera's aperture settings. In the first picture the aperture is set at f/2.8, this causes a short depth-of-field, which makes the apple in the foreground is very soft and out of focus. As I progressed through to the higher aperture settings I got to the fourth picture. In this one, the aperture is set at f/8.0, this causes a deep depth-of-field, which causes the apple in the foreground to be in focus. 1.) A FAST shutter speed will stop any movement in the frame, and the image will be darker.
2.) A SLOW shutter speed can blur movement, and the image will be brighter. 3.) A LARGE aperture gives an image a short depth-of-field, and will make the picture brighter. 4.) A SMALL aperture gives an image a deep depth-of-field, and will make the picture darker. For my first shooting assignment, I have decided to focus on people. I want to work on getting better at using shallow depth of field by adjusting the aperture in my camera.
Some photographs that I have found online that I will use for inspiration are as follows: 1.) goo.gl/images/opCvyc 2.) goo.gl/images/G1Axk4 3.) goo.gl/images/Abzeyb I think that these are good people examples because they use the shallow depth of field technique very well. The background is very soft and the subject is in focus. I swim a lot, so I think I will take it to a practice to get some pictures of people getting ready to swim, or after they swim. In this assignment we learned about the basic camera functions, photo composition, and some editing skills. First we were taught about the basic camera functions, we got to know these through taking a few random pictures. Next, we took some notes and learned about photo compositions, we practiced these by focusing on using them in our pictures. Lastly, we learned how to edit our pictures to make them picture perfect. I learned that you can't just take quick random pictures. When you take a planned picture you can really focus on the composition. I developed my skill of using and understanding the camera and it's functions. My favorite composition that we learned about was texture. I really like how you can see the intricate details of the subject.
My name is Amelia. I am a freshman at the Saline High School. I swim for two teams, the Saline High School swim team as well as Saline Swim Team. I took Digital Photography because it looked like the most fun tech credit available. I personally have no experience with photgraphy but, my mom is an avid photographer, and I knew she would be able to help me if needed. |
